Both of these pictures were taken in the same place, but perhaps a year or so apart, at Lamb’s Resort on Lake Superior. This is the Cross River, flowing into Lake Superior. I can’t tell if I prefer the cloudy or sunny shot.
Rocks
I like to take pictures of Lake Superior rocks–under water, along the water, piled up…they never get old to me.
Fall Storm
The dark sky behind the trees signaled a thunderstorm rolling in; we made it most of the way back to the car before it started pouring.

This is a picture of the Bluefin Bay resort, one of our favorite places to stay near Lutsen, MN. This shot was taken while walking along the path to the outdoor hot tub!

I just can’t get over how beautiful and odd a whole field of sunflowers was, and how fun to photograph. I’ve seen some while driving through South Dakota, too–so wonderful!
Lake of the Woods
Lake of the Woods is an impressive sight, just water, stretching off into the distance. It feels like you’re at the top of the world (and technically, the top of Minnesota!)
Prairie in Black and White
I don’t often play with black and white much, and I should do more of it; I like how it makes this prairie scene more serious, and really makes the clouds pop. This is also from far northern Minnesota, at one of the state parks near Roseau.
Sunflowers
There was a sunflower field right outside of Roseau, almost at full peak when we were there last August. I took numerous pictures, at all times of day. This day was cloudy, so it looks like the flowers are just floating in white space.
