Here’s some green for St. Patrick’s Day!
Ice shards on Lake Superior
Just returned from our annual winter trip up to the Lutsen area, and it was amazing to see all the ice. Lake Superior was frozen along the shoreline, so we could walk along and look at ice frozen on rocks and bluffs. Some parts of the lake were like this, all broken up into shards.

Winter Yoga
This is a result of some time spent with creative friends–the comparison of yoga postures with the cold, icy lake and warm, colorful winter clothing is fun. Thanks, friends!
Snowfall
I took these near the end of February, right after 8 inches of snow fell, of a local park. You can see that the picnic tables are almost buried–it’s been a pretty epic winter here.
Grand Tetons
Another shot from a trip out west–this is of the Grand Teton mountains, just south of Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone National Park
I was amazed at how huge Yellowstone is–just endless mountains, trees, nature (and roads and people; August was the busy season out there). This is the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Yellowstone.
Devil’s Tower
This was taken on a trip out to Yellowstone back in 2011, playing with the ‘old picture’ filter in Photoshop. Devil’s Tower is a spooky place!
Beaches!
Yes, winter is beautiful, but so are sunny beaches.
Winter Unending
At least winter can be beautiful, even never-ending winter like we’re having. Many of my pictures are of winter landscapes–there’s certainly enough to take pictures of here in Minnesota! These are a couple of my favorite winter photos.
