Roses in the Dades Gorge

May 27, 2014 by Emily Stark

I was surprised at the number of rose bushes I saw planted all around the airport in Marrakesh, and when we were headed east to the Sahara, we passed through the Dades Gorge, where tons and tons of roses grow.

These are a couple pictures of the Atlantic Ocean, just north of Tarifa, Spain (right outside the Strait of Gibraltar). This area is extremely windy, and is the world capital of kite surfing.

Kasbah

May 19, 2014 by Emily Stark

These pictures show a ruined kasbah (fortress), in Morocco. The use of mud bricks makes them difficult to preserve.

Sahara Desert

May 16, 2014 by Emily Stark

One of the best parts of my trip to Morocco was spending a night at a nomad camp in the Sahara Desert, after riding a camel 90 minutes out to the camp. This photo was taken after climbing half-way up a giant sand dune, looking down at the nomad camps. Some of these are families that live in the Sahara, but others are owned by hotels at the dune line, who run the overnight excursions.

Welcome to my photography site!

I mostly photograph natural and rural landscapes, with special attention to the odd and macabre.  I use a Sony Alpha 57 dSLR camera, or my cell phone, both of which I’m continually still learning to use. You can also find me on Facebook at Emily Stark Photography.

Many photos shown here are available as prints or as small notecards. Feel free to contact me with any questions about purchasing prints, or follow me on Facebook to find information about where my work is available for purchase.
